We are thrilled to celebrate Kemishia Minta, better known as Olori, as our Woman of the Month! Olori is a dynamic motherhood and lifestyle blogger whose mission is to help women achieve their purpose by cultivating safe spaces for connection and community-building.
Growing up as the American-born child of a Nigerian mother and a Trinidadian father, Olori developed an early appreciation for diversity and culture, particularly within the Black community. Her journey took a significant turn as a young adult when she faced a challenging situation that many women can relate to – calling off a wedding to the wrong man. This experience, coupled with the lack of support she received, fueled her passion for creating a sense of unity among women.
Inspired to make a difference, Olori curated a powerful book called Story for the Gods, a collection of stories from women around the world. As she traveled to different cities for the book launch, she discovered a shared yearning for community among the women she met. This realization led to the creation of Social Tea, a social networking community designed for women to support and uplift one another.
Social Tea’s vision is simple yet profound: to win together. Whether it's helping a woman through a tough divorce, navigating the challenges of childbirth, or embarking on the journey to entrepreneurship, Social Tea is about every woman choosing herself and thriving alongside others. With a presence in over 20 cities, Social Tea is a testament to the power of connection and shared experiences.
Beyond her work with Social Tea, Olori enjoys spending quality time with her husband and children, indulging in cooking, decorating her home, and traveling. Together with her husband, she also owns Soiree Event Venue in downtown Houston, Texas, a beautiful space available for booking.
